An interior design project of the Shibuya PARCO branch of Eguchi Vintage Clothing, Watch & Watch Repair Shop, a retailer specializing in vintage watches, jewelry, and related accessories. Because the store was required to operate on a shorter schedule than the facility’s overall opening hours, a key design mandate was to establish a clear visual distinction between “open” and “closed” conditions while ensuring robust security for inventory management.
The tenant space presents an irregular footprint, with two sides exposed to public circulation and a partial projection disrupting an otherwise rectangular plan. In response, display cases were arranged along the L-shaped perimeter wall, and the interior was bisected using manually operated lateral shutters, enabling the space to be segmented into two primary operational zones. Functions that could remain visible outside the shuttered area—namely the repair workspace and customer service counter—were positioned accordingly. To ensure high legibility within a visually dense retail floor, the overall space is unified through a restrained palette of white and silver finishes, reinforcing the simplicity of the color scheme.
