The relocation and renewal plan for “ECW SHOTO” focuses on vintage watches, jewelry, and clothings. The design accommodates two distinct floors in a long, narrow, irregularly shaped building. The ceiling height narrows towards the back on both floors due to the building’s infrastructure, requiring a layout that takes this into account.
Addressing the client’s functional requests, the first floor was designated as a display area for limited edition models and other products aimed at enthusiasts. The deepest back part of this floor was designed as a VIP meeting space, using the building’s depth and low ceilings to create an exclusive, secretive ambiance. The floor features navy carpeting, and the steel fixtures are finished in blue-black, creating a calm and serene environment.
In contrast, the second floor caters to a broader customer base, featuring more display cases than the first floor, along with a watch repair counter and space for apparel items. The color scheme here is unified in shades of brown, with beige porcelain tiles—also used in exterior materials—on the floor. The showcases are finished with a black-brown powder paint, providing a balance of brightness and gravitas. Blue glass and bronze glass partitions are used to avoid a sense of confinement while adding aesthetic appeal.
The shop operates on a reservation basis, with security being a significant concern. To address this, the first floor includes a double door with an L-shaped window for varied traffic flow, constructed using the same stainless steel frame as the existing facade. The second floor, featuring an atrium and the only spacious area, is equipped with a movable shutter to enhance security. These elements serve as iconic features of the space.
